Katrina Walter - (USA)

Katrina Walter holds degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (Master of Music) and Northwestern University (Bachelor of Music, Summa Cum Laude). Her principal teachers were Timothy Day, Walfrid Kujala, Donna Milanovich, Donald Peck, and Mark Sparks. In addition to her formal education, she has studied and performed at the Aspen Music Festival and School (Aspen, CO) & the Music Academy of the West (Santa Barbara, CA).

Currently a fellow with the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, Ms. Walter's orchestral career has led her throughout the United States, Eastern Europe, and South Korea. She has performed under many noted conductors, including Sir Neville Marriner, David Zinman, Michael Stern, and Michael Tilson Thomas.

Katrina was a winner of the 2007 New York Flute Club Young Artist Competition (2nd place), as well as the Music Academy of the West 2006 Concerto Competition. Other performance highlights include recitals on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series and the Orpheus Young Artist Series, as well as radio broadcasts on WFMT (Chicago), the now-defunct WNIB (Chicago), and KDB-FM (Santa Barbara). She has received top awards in regional and national competitions sponsored by the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation (Chicago), Musicians Club of Women (Chicago), Flute Society of Washington, Society of American Musicians, Chicago Flute Club, Music Teacher's National Association, and National Flute Association.
